Soldered Limpet Sea Shell + Chain Necklace

This simple, yet very unique necklace features a soldered limpet sea shell & a simple silver rolo chain.  The limpet shell is part of the sea snail that lives in the cooler waters of the Eastern Atlantic Ocean (along the coast of Western Europe). One very interesting fact about these creatures is that the teeth of the limpet have been found to be the strongest biological material on earth, even though they are so small that they can only be seen microscopically! Research has shown that the weight they can withstand can be compared to a spaghetti noodle holding up the weight of an adult hippopotamus! Wow! The color of these limpet shells is somewhere between a chocolate brown and a dark purple color, which makes it a very versatile piece! This necklace is approximately 18"-19" long.
